The basics
What exactly is a “move”?
One situation and the keystroke that answers it — “edit this code in place” → Cmd+K. Decks are built from moves, not from lists of keys, because you recall a shortcut by the problem it solves, not by its name.
How does graduation work?
A deck graduates when every move in it holds at ≥95% first-try accuracy, a median response under 800ms, on two separate days. The two-day spacing is the point — holding a bar once is recognition, holding it again days later is memory.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no signup, no password, and nothing to forget. That is deliberate — see the next section for the tradeoff it buys.
What’s free without buying?
Universal Grammar and Cursor in full, plus level 1 of every Base deck. Decks marked PRO in the app (professional CAD, 3D, video, and design tools) have no free level — they unlock with Pro. Graduation and certificates require full deck access, so they follow the same rules.
Why can’t I drill certain shortcuts?
Some chords belong to the browser and can’t be intercepted by a web page — Ctrl+W closes the tab, Ctrl+T opens one. CmdEnter detects your platform, excludes those moves from drilling, and tells you exactly which ones it skipped and why.
Your progress and your devices
Where is my progress stored?
In your browser’s localStorage, on the machine you are using. It never reaches a server, because there is no server to reach — we have no database of users and no way to see your practice history.
Does my progress sync between my laptop and my desktop?
No. Progress is per-browser and does not travel. Drilling on your laptop will not show up on your desktop, and Chrome and Safari on the same machine are separate. This is the honest tradeoff for having no accounts: nothing of yours sits on a server, which also means nothing of yours can leak from one — but nothing follows you either.
My license works on 5 devices. Why didn’t my progress follow?
Your license and your progress are two different things. The license key unlocks decks on up to five browsers or devices — activate it on the new machine and everything unlocks immediately. Your training history is separate and stays per-browser, so the new machine starts its record fresh.
What happens if I clear my browser data, or use a private window?
The progress is gone, and we cannot restore it, because we never had a copy. Private and incognito windows discard everything when you close them, so use a normal window if you want your practice to persist.
Can I export or move my progress?
Not today. It is the main thing a future account system would solve, and it is the reason we would build one — not to collect anything.
Certificates and LinkedIn
What does the certificate actually prove?
That inside CmdEnter, on that device, you held every move in the deck at ≥95% first-try, under 800ms median, across two separate days. It states the standard the app enforced. That is a stronger claim than most course certificates make, and a narrower one than some imply.
Is it an accredited or official certification?
No, and we never describe it as one. It is a self-issued record of your performance in this app. It is not accredited, and it is not a certification from the software vendor — a CmdEnter certificate for Premiere Pro is not an Adobe credential. CmdEnter is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the vendors whose tools it trains.
Can I add it to LinkedIn?
Yes. Graduating opens a certificate you can download as an image, plus a one-click link that fills in LinkedIn’s certification form — filed under the software’s own name, which is the term most people search for.
What is the credential ID?
A structured identifier containing the deck, the graduation date, and a checksum. It exists so a certificate is traceable to what produced it. We do not call it “verified,” because there is no server behind it to verify against.
Buying, tiers, and licenses
Is this a subscription?
Base and Pro are one-time purchases — buy once, keep them. There is also an optional monthly Pro plan. Nothing about the free tier expires.
What happens if my Pro subscription lapses?
Every deck you already graduated stays unlocked. Decks you had not finished revert to the free tier, and your training progress is untouched. You keep what you proved.
How do I unlock after buying?
Your thank-you page and Creem receipt show your license key. Click Activate in CmdEnter or paste the key at /#unlock. The app validates the key on our server through Creem — the thank-you page does not unlock the app by itself. Up to five browsers per key.
How do refunds work?
Purchases are handled by Creem as merchant of record. See our Refund Policy (3-day window for one-time purchases), or email support@cmdenter.app with your order ID.
Accuracy
Are the shortcuts actually correct?
Every deck is verified on a best-effort basis against the vendor’s own documentation, and each one carries the date it was checked. Where a vendor ships no default shortcut for something, we leave it out rather than invent one — which is why a few decks are deliberately short.
Software changes. What if a shortcut is out of date?
It happens, and we would rather hear about it than not: email hello@cmdenter.app with the deck and the move. Corrections go out with the next deck update. Verify anything consequential against the vendor’s documentation.
Privacy
Do you track me?
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no cookies set by us. When you buy, Creem processes payment; when you activate a license, our server validates your key with Creem using their API (we never expose our API key in the browser). See the Privacy Policy.
